Overtime I think about how judgey I was while running my daycare about those grandparents who would keep their grandchildren up too late when they visited, spoiled them taking them to every entertainment that came into town. Then at the daycare we had to help those children get back to reality and begin to be reminded that the world “DID NOT” revolve around them.
BUT, then I joined their club. The Grandparent Club. NOW, I get it! It is quite exclusive, you can’t pay to become a member. Sometimes we join through marriage, while others after our own babies have babies. But it is clearly my favorite club to be in.
When my youngest just visited from NYC for 10 days it reminded me once again to slow down, don’t take life so seriously and the real joy of spontaneous moments. Watching life through a child’s eyes and being curious what they find so fascinating whether it is a bug crawling across the ground or the joys of bubbles. I think that’s why God did make grandchildren, it reminds us to keep laughing and that all things
