UPCOMING HOLIDAYS Festive or Frantic – You get to choose!
How are you feeling about the holidays? Excited, anxious, hopeful, mixed-emotions? For many, this time of year can be somewhat stressful. So many things to do, so little time. Whether it is a crowded social calendar, creating a “New Normal” if we have lost someone, panicking about entertaining or that perfect gift, it is easy to let these holidays get the best of us. So if you are already peeking at the calendar having to remind yourself, it will all be over in less than 30 days, let’s take a pause and reflect.
Knowing how the holidays effect you, jot down one area that may have caused you stress in the past. For me it is over scheduling myself underestimating the time it takes to do something, I think I can do it all then ending up tired and not at my best.
Plan something that you get excited thinking about. It will look different for each of us. For some it may be eliminating something that no longer brings joy, for others it may be doing more of something that we love. Spending time with a dear friend/relative, volunteering, bubble bath, massage or doing NOTHING- just carving out time for yourself!.
With anything worth while it will take action. It will take intentional planning. It will not happen magically unless you plan for it to happen. It will take you getting your calendar out identifying what new action you are going to take (or eliminate) and writing it down. I Promise! You will feel so much better once you commit! Enjoy!
